We are always looking for dynamic, outgoing volunteers who like to surround themselves with people and action. You are all so very important to the success of each and every race. Without volunteers, there would be no events!
If you like human contact, encouraging and helping people, come spend a day with us to meet extraordinary people while spending a day outdoors!
Come and encourage our runners to exceed their limits! Becoming a volunteer is a chance to live a rewarding and fulfilling experience!
HOW TO REGISTER AS A VOLUNTEER?
To register, you must go to WWW.GORACE.CA
Click on the “VOLUNTEERS” tab and in the “SIGN UP NOW” box. Now checkmark the days and races that interest you and complete the form. Subsequently, you will receive a confirmation of registration of the races you have chosen by email.
This year, our goal is to involve more and more volunteers in our activities. It is for this reason that we will be doing regular follow-ups either by email or phone to keep you up to date with everything that is going on and changes if there are any. A week or two before the event, we will send you an email giving you all the details of the day. In addition, the volunteer manager will contact you by phone or email to make sure you are still available for the day of volunteering. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
AT WHAT AGE CAN I REGISTER AS A VOLUNTEER?
There is no minimum age to become a volunteer. However, children 14 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES AND PRIVILEGES OF BECOMING A VOLUNTEER AND PART OF OUR TEAM?
To thank you for your involvement, you will get the following:

WHAT IS MY ROLE AS A VOLUNTEER?
Each volunteer role is important for the race to run smoothly. You are the people who make the race an unforgettable experience for the participants. We need as many people as possible to fill all the positions as we have a lot of participants and a lot of obstacles and stations.
So, here are the many positions that we offer you to choose from:
For those who want to spend a full day volunteering:
1-Ticket Booth / Reception: Validate entry tickets, direct participants in line, hand out bracelets or goodies or even guide cars in the parking lot.
2-Obstacle attendant on the course or in the festival area: Be positioned at a particular obstacle or station on the course to help and encourage all participants.
For those who want to give us half a day of volunteering:
1-Attendant for the 1km race for children in the afternoon (around 12:00 pm): Help our team on the 1km course for the children.
2-Attendant to replace other volunteers on the adult course in the afternoon period.
3-Event tear-down: Help remove flags, banners, fences, etc… after the race!
WHAT TIME DO VOLUNTEER DAYS START AND END?
It's important to get there as early as possible so that we can make sure we have enough volunteers for the day and fill all available positions. This is why we ask our volunteers to arrive between 6:30am and 7:00am (times may vary depending on the event). Depending on how the day unfolds, it usually ends between 3:00pm and 4:00pm.
HOW DOES A VOLUNTEER DAY WORK?
When you arrive, you will meet up with the Volunteer Manager so that she can assign you a position for the day and answer all your questions. A coffee awaits you to start the day! Then, when you know which position is assigned to you, a Zone Leader will give you all instructions / regulations of your obstacle station and will lead you either by ATV or on foot to your selected location.
Each volunteer will receive a radio (walkie-talkie) to be able to reach support staff and/or Zone Leaders at all times. You will have this radio for your safety and that of the participants. We never leave you alone! Lunch, snacks and beverages will be distributed throughout the day by our team. When the last runners of the race have passed, you can notify the Zone Leaders so that you can then leave your post. Before leaving the site, it is important to go see the Volunteer Manager to return your radio and give her your contact details (phone and email) so that we can contact you to give you your code for the free race. It is a day full of satisfaction and pride that is the goal of becoming a volunteer!
IF I AM REGISTERED AS A VOLUNTEER AND ON THE DAY OF THE RACE CANNOT PRESENT, WHAT SHOULD I DO?
The first thing to do is to contact, either by phone or email, the person in charge of volunteers to let us know that you are no longer available. It is important for us to know this as soon as possible so that we may be able to replace you.
DO I HAVE TO BRING A LUNCH AND SPARE CLOTHES?
No need to bring a lunch and a snack as we take care of your dinner, but there's nothing stopping you from bringing extra food. For those with food allergies, we advise you to bring your own food so as not to have an incident and it is essential to inform the Volunteer Manager of which food or any other allergen are you allergic to.
Yes, we recommend that you bring a change of clothes, as the temperature can change from minute to minute (it can be cold, hot, humid even in summer). It is for these reasons that it is important to bring clothing appropriate to the temperature of the day (ex: waterproof coat if rain is in the forecast, hat or cap to spend your day in the sun ...).
HOW DO I GET MY FREE RACE?
At the end of your volunteer day, you must meet with the Volunteer Manager and give her your contact information (name, phone number and email address) so that we can reach you. In the days or weeks following the event, we will send you a promo code that you can use to register for one of our 45 Degrés Nord races. When you are ready to register for the race of your choice, enter this code in the box (coupon code) and there will be no charge.
IF WE ARE A FAMILY OR A GROUP OF FRIENDS, CAN WE BE TOGETHER ON A JOB?
Yes, it is to position several people in one place, because we have some positions that require more than one person to take care of an obstacle or a station. You must notify the volunteer manager to take your request into consideration.
